How long is a day in Islam?
In one case, the measure of a day is equated with 50,000 years (70:4), whereas another verse states that "a day in the sight of your Lord is like 1,000 years of your reckoning" (22:47). The word "youm" is thus understood, within the Qur'an, to be a long period of time -- an era or eon.
One day in paradise is considered equal to a thousand years on earth. Palaces are made from bricks of gold, silver, pearls, among other things. Traditions also note the presence of horses and camels of "dazzling whiteness", along with other creatures.
The Islamic calendar has 12 months with 29 or 30 days. If the Crescent Moon is visible shortly after sunset on the evening of day 29, the following day is the first day of the new month. If no sighting is made, a 30th day is added to the current month, which is then followed by the first day of the subsequent month.
According to Muslim Scholars, the best and most beneficial of sleep is sleep during the first half of the night, and the last sixth, which is equivalent to eight hours.
The scales will be piled up like mountains, weighted with good and evil deeds. That day will last for 50,000 years. It is believed those whose good deeds outweigh their bad will be assigned to Jannah (heaven), and those whose bad deeds outweigh the good, Jahannam (hell).

Days of the week
The Islamic day begins at sunset. Muslims gather for prayer at a mosque at noon on "gathering day" (Yawm al-Jumʿah), which corresponds with the lunar start of the day, which is Thursday evening, at the moment when the sun has completely set. Maghrib on this day is the start of the day.

Is it haram to stay up until Fajr?
Muslims are required to wake up early to pray (Fajr) at dawn (approximately one and one-half hours before sunrise). Some Muslims wake up to pray Fajr and then sleep until it is time to work (split sleep), whereas others sleep continuously (consolidated sleep) until work time and pray Fajr upon awakening.
The Prophet (pbuh) said, “One should not sleep before the night prayer, nor have discussions after it” [SB 574]. Additionally, Muslims are required to wake up for Fajr prayer, which is about one hour before sunrise. The Prophet did not sleep after Fajr prayer.
1,2 Islam considers sleep to be one of the great signs of the creator (Allāh) and asks followers to explore this sign. One Qur'anic verse says, “And among His signs is your sleep by night and by day and your seeking of His bounty, verily in that are signs for those who hearken” (30.23).
After death, most Muslims believe that the soul will enter Barzakh, a state of waiting, until the Day of Judgement. When a person dies, their soul is taken by Azra'il, the Angel of Death. God sends two angels to question the waiting soul.
The barzakh Descriptions
According to the Quran (23:100), almost every human spirit goes into barzakh, and the barzakh state will last for the spirit until the day of resurrection.
Muslims believe that the Quran was orally revealed by God to the final prophet, Muhammad, through the archangel Gabriel incrementally over a period of some 23 years, beginning in the month of Ramadan, when Muhammad was 40; and concluding in 632, the year of his death.

What happens in heaven in Islam?
Heaven is described in the Qur'an as a beautiful garden. Jannah is Paradise, where those who have been good go. It is described in the Qur'an as “gardens of pleasure” (Qur'an 31:8). Muslims believe they get to Paradise by living religiously, asking Allah for forgiveness and showing good actions in their life.
Hoor-al-Ayn is the women or maidens who will accompany faithful Muslim men in paradise. Before moving further, it needs to be clear that we shall not have the same mindset as we have now in paradise. We will be free of envy, hatred, and jealousy towards anyone in heaven, and we will be satisfied there.
